Do you know why I do this? Neither do I, but I’ll tell you what I feel: when I’m on stage, it doesn’t matter if I’m a good or bad actor, what matters is the state that position puts me in. It’s like meditating; I forget everything and everyone, and it’s the same in rehearsals, because that’s where the true scene is and where it resides. So, that state of unconsciousness I can’t achieve anywhere else, maybe only in orgasm. And despite the fact that, to be honest, many times I’m not very inclined to attend my colleagues' performances, it’s simply because I’m not interested in what theater generates in its surroundings. I’m interested in the scene, the action, the energetic exchange. That basically nourishes me, and it’s something I won’t find anywhere else but in theater, the scene, the human interaction, life. That’s where I feel it and breathe it. Nothing else matters but letting out everything that eats at you from the inside. For me, that is the essence of theater: there are no shapes or formulas that work for everyone. The point is to probe and share all those things you don’t dare to say, and basically, that’s my trench.
